Everywhere we look these days, influencers are seemingly out here living their best lives while the rest of us slog away craving just one of their many holidays.
If you’re wondering just how difficult their ‘jobs’ really are though, the answer comes in the form of a builder from Austin, Texas.
Disclaimer: they’re actually not that difficult at all, as construction worker Omar proved when he set up his very own Instagram influencer page recently.
Omar had no idea what an influencer was until recently, when he decided to ask his daughter about it. After she explained, his response set the precedent for what would become a hilariously wholesome venture.
Replying simply saying, ‘pssh, I could do that,’ Omar soon set about creating his Instagram page. And wouldn’t you know it, he’s gone viral in a matter of weeks, with the page so far having a massive 348K followers – a number which is only growing.
I’ll be honest with you, the builder is already my favourite social influencer out there. There’s no two ways about it, Omar has it sussed.
Proving you don’t have to go on millions of fancy holidays to get 10/10 pics for the ‘gram, Omar instead documents his working life in the best way possible.
Sharing pictures of his outfit of the day – a high vis jacket, gloves, and helmet – and posting candid photos of him happily drinking an espresso, the viral sensation has proved a hit with everyone.
He also manages to hilariously mimic famous influencer poses, such as the classic ‘walking away from someone while holding my hand out’ picture. Which, I think we can all agree, he hits the nail on the head with.
Obviously, people are obsessed with Omar’s new style of influencing, with many saying he is the kind of social media sensation they’ve been waiting for their entire lives.
One person described the builder as the ‘only influencer in the gram i’ll follow,’ before writing: ‘We are witnessing a legend being born folks’. Another person said his Instagram account was now their ‘new favorite page on IG,’ while another said Omar was ‘the only influencer I’ve ever felt inclined to follow’.
Which, same. Can we just swap all the other influencers for Omar so his content is the only one I see on social media for the rest of eternity? Please and thank you.
Keep doing you, Omar.
Update
Since publication it has been revealed Omar’s account was curated for a marketing campaign.
Omar is a real construction worker, however he did not run the account himself.
UNILAD has since written an updated story explaining the truth behind the account, and those responsible for its management.
