On the chilly morning of January 25 last year, a paranoid schizophrenic known as Shawn O’Neill went on what police described as a stabbing rampage in Toronto, Canada.
During the rampage, he randomly selected four unrelated targets and lashed out at them with a large kitchen knife.
He succeeded in stabbing three of his four targets, causing them serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to CBC.
Paramedics later arrived and rushed the three victims to hospital, as O’Neill was arrested by police.
However, it’s not as black and white as it may seem, as O’Neill had only recently been released from court mandated psychiatric treatment, which he had been on for the past 17 years of his life.
When he was released, he stopped going to treatment sessions and stopped taking his medication, preferring to get drunk and smoke weed.
This culmination of events led to the shocking inevitability of January 25.
This petrifying newly released footage shows the moment that O’Neill began his rampage on randomly selected victims, and it truly is terrifying.
He was later found not guilty on grounds of mental illness.
