Instagram/ Rich PianaBodybuilder Rich Piana has died at the age of 46 after spending nearly three weeks in a coma, according to his estranged wife.
The reports follow his two week stay in hospital, where he has been in a coma after a reported overdose.
His wife Sara Piana wrote on Instagram:
I’m in tears writing this that @1dayumay has just passed away. I can barely believe this… I am so saddened & heartbroken that he didn’t make it.
Her post continued:
I just want to say THANK YOU Rich for teaching me so much about life, whether it was the easy or the hard way.
We had our ups and downs but we sure had an awesome time in each other’s presence along with us fighting through some dark times together.
You truly touched many people’s heart and helped so many!!!
She finished off the tribute by writing:
It inspired me in many ways to see the huge impact you had on people all over the world. Not many people know that me and him are STILL legally married till this day despite all rumors… Rest In Peace my dear husband.

Rich Piana had openly been taking steroids since he was a teenager and fell ill in his home in Florida on August 10.
His wife described a ‘medical emergency’ before his death.
This is the second body builder death in a week, after Dallas McCarver died aged just 26 after reportedly choking on food.
