Before climbing onto the ride’s car Mellor said:
I’ve been here before, I live locally, but I’m nervous. I don’t like things jumping out at me, I scare easily and don’t even usually go on ghost trains.
The Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star was joined by comedian Johnny Vegas who professed his love for The Walking Dead and revealed he’s just directed a zombie-based film, which features the main cast telling horror stories.
Discussing the new ride Johnny said:
I was so scared when the zombies chased me as I got off that I fell over the fence.
Vegas’ movie is based on a zombie apocalypse in Hebburn, near Newcastle.
He said:
If you’ve ever been to Hebburn you’ll know why I picked that place.
The 46-year-old, who’s currently working on his new Home From Home sitcom also revealed the most terrifying moment in his life – when he was stuck in a shop storage cupboard for an hour and a half at the age of seven.

Vegas revealed:
It was a shop next to where my mum worked and I wandered in and became locked in. It was pitch black in there. It was horrific. I’m still traumatised by it now.
X-Factor star Stacey Solomon, who was also at the park, added:
The ride was incredible, the best bit was being chased off the ride. I was so terrified I grabbed a stranger in front of me who lead me to safety!
