The Chase star Anne Hegerty has slammed a troll who claimed actor Emily Atack ‘wasn’t pretty enough’ for her new film role.
Hegerty and Atack formed a close friendship when they appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here together last year.
So the 60-year-old Chaser was quick to jump to The Inbetweeners star’s defence when a troll criticised her looks.
On March 15, Atack shared a photo of herself as the lead singer of Blondie, Debbie Harry, announcing her latest role.
The actor tweeted:
Thrilled to be announce I’ll be playing DEBBIE HARRY in Sky Arts new season of Urban Myths!
Fans celebrated the news, with the tweet receiving over 6,700 likes at time of writing (March 17).
Not everyone was impressed though, as troll Steve Burrows shared the tweet with the caption ‘sorry, you’re just not pretty enough’, accompanied by the thumbs down emoji.
In the replies to Burrows tweet, people labelled him a ‘twat’, a ‘bellend’, ‘rude’ and ‘unpleasant’, all of which are accurate.
Hegerty put it best though, simply commenting:
What a sad c*nt you are Steve.
Unsurprisingly her reaction was applauded, with the tweet currently having over 24,000 likes.
Afraid of the backlash, Burrows has tried to dig himself out of the hole by claiming his tweet was ‘only teasing’ Atack, who he says liked it at first.
He wrote:
You are only teasing. I did actually tweet Emily back that it was in jest, and she liked the original tweet.
We remain unconvinced…
Atack is continually being targeted by fat shaming trolls, and others who criticise her appearance and looks.
Last month she clearly had had enough, telling them to ‘go and fuck yourself‘ after trolls filled her Instagram with cruel comments about her figure following Atack’s appearance at the Brit awards.
We think she looked stunning in a gorgeous white gown!
An angry Atack took to Twitter to voice her frustrations:
To all the lovely comments lots of you say to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart. To those who continue to call me fat… have a wonderful evening, and then go and fuck yourself. All the best.
I will never understand why people feel the need to comment on others’ bodies, especially since it none of their business.
So you tell them Emily to ‘go fuck’ themselves, that’s exactly what they need to do!
