I’ve heard of people throwing divorce parties, and even one woman having a funeral for her youth on her 30th birthday, but a vasectomy party is a new one for me.
A vasectomy is something I’ll never have to worry about, but I’ve watched enough television shows, read enough books, and had many conversations with friends to know it’s a topic which can make some a bit squeamish.
Why? Well, a vasectomy is a form of male sterilisation and involves a surgical procedure to cut or seal the tubes which carry sperm to permanently prevent pregnancy. Afterwards, the scrotum may become bruised, swollen or painful – I think that’s why people are a bit squeamish about it.
Anyway, one couple from America, who decided they didn’t want any more children and felt it was the best decision for them, turned the situation into a cause for celebration… Of sorts.
Leah Randall, along with her partner Willie Randall and their three children, held a ‘Snip Snip Hooray’ party.
She shared the ‘exciting news’ on Facebook and uploaded an array of photos, which included a sperm-covered cake (I should be clear, sperm-shaped icing), along with photos of Willie’s procedure – with parts blurred out, obviously.
Check these out:
Speaking to UNILAD, Leah told us:
It was definitely a joint decision. We both decided that three kids was plenty and all three are healthy at that, so there’s not much more you could ask for.
If you’re wondering how the kids played their part in the celebrations, feast your eyes on this.
Each of the three children wore t-shirts which had ‘Swim Team Survivor’ written across the front, with a date underneath – one said 2013, the next said 2015, and the other said 2017.
Leah continued:
The dates were actually the year they were born – although it would’ve made sense to do the years they were conceived. Tucker is five, Danner is three, and Eleanor is one.
Have a gander:
As for dad’s t-shirt, his read:
The swim team may have been cut, but the coach will never retire!
Leah shared the post on Facebook yesterday (February 16), with the caption:
We have some exciting news….!
Leah told UNILAD how she came up with the unique idea:
I saw the idea a couple years ago and thought it was fantastic! I wanted to make it a celebration for him since he’s taking one for the team and I was thankful. Plus, it’s a great excuse for some delicious cake!
Comments from their friends were all positive, saying how hilarious it was, and at the time of writing, the post has been shared nearly 1,000 times.
We have some exciting news….!

That’s funny, a cake and all. I still haven’t done it, scared!
While another added:
This is the best thing I’ve seen in a while haha!
And one person said what I’ve been thinking:
OMG this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen! I’m cracking up. So creative.
It’s certainly creative – 10 out of 10 in that department guys.
Willie, here’s to a speedy recovery!
