A young girl was left in tears after her dad ordered her to have a drastic haircut as ‘punishment’ for having highlights put in.
Kelsey’s mum, Christin Johnson, posted photos to Facebook saying she’d allowed her daughter to have highlights in her hair for a birthday treat.
According to Christin, her new hairdo was short-lived, as Kelsey’s dad, Schaffen Frederick and her stepmother Sarah Murray, ordered the teenager to have her hair cut short as punishment.
This is what my daughter looked like Sunday when I took her home and the other two pics is what happened today before she was brought to me… all over me having highlights put in her hair for her birthday!

According to Fox8, Haskins Police Chief, Colby Carroll, said Kelsey’s dad and step-mum, along with Wood County Children’s Services, are ‘investigating a potential child abuse complaint’.
He added:
I’ve been doing this since ’92 and I’ve never had a case I would say that’s like this.

Christin’s original post, which she shared last week (January 31), has now gone viral and in that time has received 34,000 reactions and has been shared more than 24,500 times.
But Kelsey now ‘has her smile back’ thanks to a new wig.

Especially Haylee Ann for taking her to pick out her new hair. She got her smile back because of you ladies and your selfless acts of kindness! We truly appreciate you ladies so much! Haylee, you are the best God mother to Kelsey and the bond you two share is incredible, we love you so much!

Christin set up a Facebook page titled ‘Team Kelsey’ with a fundraiser – which has since been shut down – and people have been wishing Kelsey all the best following her ordeal.

I am so, so sorry for what you are going through. I am just hoping you don’t see these negative posts about your situation. The people that are bashing you/your situation are not in your shoes. They bitch and complain because they can, adults are self-entitled, lol. No one, I mean NO ONE, knows how you feel but you. The positive comments on this page will outweigh the bad one. Take one day at a time, Team Kelsey. Much love to you and your mom from Florida. [sic].
And Michelle Caampued Lucas added:
Beautiful baby! I can’t imagine what she and you are going through! The father who allowed the non mother of his child to put her through this has no mind of his own! Disappointing! If my dad did that to me I would probably stop talking to him!
If my husband became my ex husband and he brought my children back to me in a way they weren’t the way I brought them he and I and his new woman would be at it! I hope justice is served to the father and he will never ever do any thing to this precious baby again and will never see her again! Serves him right! He doesn’t deserve this beautiful baby girl! [sic].
Yes, I know some people will say ‘it’s only hair and it will grow’, but it’s not nice for a teenage girl to go through.
