The Walt Disney CompanyThe dust hasn’t even settled on Walt Disney’s huge new expansion, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – but that hasn’t stopped the Disneyland Resort from working on their next planned expansion.
Announcing plans for a space at the California Adventure Park based on the superheroes of Marvel’s comics and films – the Los Angeles Times has reported the city of Anaheim has approved several building permits for new projects.
The permits include plans for a bathroom overhaul, a retail outlet, a microbrewery, a character meet-and-greet area and improvements to existing buildings.

Disney, who acquired the Marvel empire in 2009 for a cool $4 billion have declined to comment on the permits or what attractions are set to be included in the new land, but it has been suggested that one new addition could include an interactive Spider-Man ride.
With Marvel attractions also planned for three other parks across the globe including Hong Kong Disneyland in 2023, Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris in 2020 and at Epcot park in Florida in 2021 – we have high hopes for the Marvel-themed expansion.
A Bug’s Land – an area of the gigantic theme park which features characters from 1998 film A Bug’s Life is currently being demolished in order to make way for the new superhero land.
Construction of the new section is happening behind a wall at the adventure park brandishing the words ‘Stark Industries’ – Iron Man’s fictional company ran by Marvel fan favourite Tony Stark.
Talking about the news, President of International Theme Park Services Dennis Speigel told the LA Times:
They are coming back to capitalize on what’s going to be a huge success with Galaxy’s Edge. It’s the right cross and then an uppercut that knocks the market out.
With Avengers: Endgame breaking numerous box office records, and taking over $2 billion at the box office globally, it’s no surprise Disney are rushing to build the Marvel expansion ASAP.
I don’t know about you, but I’m about ready to book a one way ticket and never return.
More details about the new land are expected to be released at the Disney celebration D23, which is scheduled to take place on 23rd – 25th August at the Anaheim Convention Center.
