Engagement Ring Lost For 13 Years Found On Carrot

84-year-old Mary Gram lost her her engagement ring 13 years ago, but was reunited with it after it was found in the most unexpected of places – on a carrot.

They say, if you love something set it free and if comes back it’s yours, if not, it wasn’t meant to be – i think it’s definitely the case for Mary.

Thirteen years ago Mary, from Alberta, Canada, lost the engagement ring given to her by her husband Norman after pulling out a big weed from her garden – Norman gave it to her in 1951, a year before they married.

Speaking to CBC News Mary said:

We looked high and low on our hands and knees

We couldn’t find it. I thought for sure either they rototilled it or something happened to it.

After replacing the ring Mary revealed she decided not to tell Norman because she was ‘sure he’d give me heck or something’.

The ring was found by Mary’s son and daughter-in-law, who now live at the farm where the ring was lost.

Unbelievably, the long lost ring was found with a carrot growing inside of it when daughter-in-law Colleen Daley was pulling them out – she took the ring to her husband who told her the tale of his mother’s missing engagement ring.

Daley told CBC news:

If you look at it, it grew perfectly around the carrot. It was pretty weird looking.

I knew it had to belong to either grandma or my mother-in-law because no other women have lived on that farm.

I asked my husband if he recognized the ring and he said yeah, his mother had lost her engagement ring years ago in the garden and never found it again.

Sadly Norman passed away five years ago, not long after the two celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Thankfully Mary has the ring, as well as over 60 years worth of memories, to remember him by.
