Long-distance relationships can be tough and simple little gestures of affection can make all the difference.
For example, when 23-year-old Kayla Speers from Iowa arranged for a sandwich to be delivered to her boyfriend’s apartment, she assumed he would appreciate the kind and tasty gesture.
After all, as far as Kayla knew, her boyfriend of a few months had been hard at work revising for his final college exams, and was probably in serious need of a study-snack.
However, she could not have imagined a simple surprise delivery would have revealed his secret infidelity…
The boyfriend – who has not been named – lived three hours away from Kayla, and when he didn’t reply to a message alerting him to the delivery, she innocently assumed he was enjoying a well-deserved nap.
Telling her story through a Twitter thread which has since gone viral, Kayla explained:
When I was placing my order to the @jimmyjohns employee I let them know that this was for my boyfriend who lived in that city and that I wouldn’t be present when the food was delivered since I’m 3 hours away. I also asked if it was okay for him to sign for me.
The order was placed & my bf had texted me a little bit before letting me know he was going to take a nap. So I sent him a text saying ‘hey, foods on the way for you. Please leave a tip.’ I didn’t hear back from him for a bit, but I just assumed he was sleeping.
Kayla received a simple ‘thank you’ text from her sneaky boyfriend, and understandably assumed all was well. But then she got a call from the Jimmy Jones delivery driver…
Picking up the phone, Kayla worried there could have been something wrong with her card. Little could she have guessed the seedy truth.
The delivery driver asked her if the delivery was for her boyfriend. Kayla initially found the question rather confusing as she had already explained her relationship with the deliveree.
Then Kayla received the news no long-distance girlfriend wants to hear:
The delivery driver continued by saying this… ‘look, we usually don’t do this, but I think you would like to know… when we walked up to the door to your bf’s place we were able to see into his apartment and he was in his boxers with a naked women on top of him on the couch.’
After asking a few follow-up questions, Kayla was able to confirm the man in the boxers was indeed her boyfriend.
The news was obviously very upsetting to hear, but at least Kayla now knew the truth, all thanks to Jimmy Johns above-and-beyond service.
Tweeting appreciatively about the delivery driver’s honesty, Kayla said:
Not many would do what that delivery driver did, and I’m very grateful he called me and was honest about the situation.
Jimmy Johns has now even reached out to Kayla, offering to cater for her break-up party.
Sounds like Kayla is well rid of this sandwich snake. Kayla, make sure to drop us an invite to your fantastic sounding break-up party!
