Everyone has their own theories about what happens after death, and some of them include a big bearded man and some pearly gates.
Others believe in a Day of Judgement where all the dead will rise to be judged by God on their life’s actions.
Many believe there’s absolutely nothing after death, and in Joey from Friends’ words ‘when you’re dead, you’re gone, you’re worm food’.
Whatever people’s beliefs, it’s fair to say that everyone has a fascination with the afterlife, and when someone comes forward with an account of what it’s like, it’s always interesting.
Such an account has surfaced on Reddit, with an anonymous user claiming they’ve suffered a near-death experience and caught a glimpse of the afterlife.
The user, named aLongLastingLimp, wrote:
As for me I experienced travel and in this travel I was gifted knowledge of where it is that good souls go to and where the doomed souls are sent to.
The post continued:
When you die you’ll know you’re dead because one of two things will happen, you’ll either be travelling through what will look like a tunnel of light shooting all around you or you’ll be in a place that comes with nothing but fear and darkness all around.
So far so standard, this isn’t the first time we’ve been told of the light at the end of the tunnel.
It’s almost a cliche at this point, but let’s keep going.
They continue:
Now as for the tunnel, it’s not really a tunnel, it’s more of what from the outside looks like a glowing cord that is being slowly whipped around in space and all the light shooting around inside are good souls going in all the same direction to a better place.
I saw this glowing cord because I was guided to it and I was fortunate enough to see something so amazing. I was also guided to the dark place that is so far away from our glowing cord of good souls.
This place has no light, in this place you’ll know you’re in hell and that you’ll be there for all eternity. No thoughts except for ones knowing you are a bad person haunt your mind.
Okay that sounds absolutely horrible, a place with nothing other than the eternal thought of being a bad person.
I’m starting to question whether I’ve been a bad person or not now, but what do we mean by ‘bad’?
It’s all so vague, not helping us here aLongLastingLimp.
Things don’t get better:
The darkness leaves you in a terrified paralysis where you can’t see anything except for the vast dark emptiness of a hellish universe with no stars, no light, no anything, not even thought.
I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to go to this place.
They then go on to explain their experience in ‘heaven’ where they were sat on a hill with Jesus.
That bit sounds like a great Sunday afternoon, and they explain that everything was ‘calming’ and ‘safe’.
I know which one I’d rather have, but if we could have some more info on what makes a ‘bad’ person then that’d be grand.
In the meantime, try not to get killed in case you end up in that hellish afterlife.
