FacebookA man battling Alzheimer’s has made an emotional video plea asking for his family and friends to visit him.
According to the Global News, Alan Beamer, 66, from Michigan was diagnosed with the irreversible disease two years ago, and since then he has noticed that some of his friends and family have began treating him differently.
In the heartbreaking video, filmed by his wife Mary Beth and viewed over 105,000 times in the three days since it has been posted, he emotionally addresses the camera, explaining how the disease affects him and describing it as one of the ‘meanest things he’s ever seen’.

In response to the question: “What do you want from your family and friends?” Mr Beamer replies:
I want them to know that I’m the same old person, and I wish that all my friends could just come up and talk to me, just like they did before. I know they’re afraid of me.
Visibly upset, he goes on to explain he does not like people ‘talking around him’, saying ‘all of his friends are highly intelligent’, but he feels that they dumb down their conversations to only revolve around simple things with answers of only yes, no or maybe.

I love them, I wish they’d come visit. I’d love it if they came over for a while and we could talk about what’s really happening behind the scenes.
According to data from the Alzheimer’s Association and reported in the Independent, the disease is the sixth highest cause of death in the U.S. – and the only one in the top ten that cannot be prevented, cured or slowed down.
