Here’s A Very Simple Way To Stop Nuisance Calls For Good

By :

Nuisance calls- we’ve all had them at some point in our lives, with the unluckier amongst us getting them on a daily basis.

You know the score by now, there’s always someone out there trying to sell you some sort of shit you don’t really need and this only escalates in the world of unwanted sales calls.

Frustrating marketing chats, being sold PPI, or getting told that you’ve definitely had an accident (you really haven’t) and should claim compensation.

These calls can become the bane of our lives and make you want to angrily smash up your phone in despair.

But the days of these nuisance calls could now finally be over thanks to a new campaign.

Millions of mobile phone users around the country can now send a free message to opt out of nuisance calls under a new service which has been started up by telecoms watchdogs.

The text-to-register service – designed by Ofcom – will let people add their numbers to the UK’s official ‘do not call’ database, which would then make it illegal for companies to phone them without being given permission beforehand. Happy days!

Those wanting to sign up to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) need to text ‘TPS’ followed by their email address to 78070.

You should then receive a reply from the TPS to confirm that the number has successfully been added to their database.

Those who sign up would than get a massive reduction in these type of calls after a few days, but it could take up to 28 days for the service to come into full effect.

Speaking to The Mirror, John Mitchison, head of the TPS, said:

Rogue callers operate illegally and against the interests of ordinary people. Texting will make it easier for people to register their mobile numbers on the TPS, which is the only official no-call list, and help us stamp out rogue callers once and for all by giving the Information Commissioner more ammunition to prosecute these cases.

Well it’s about fucking time.
