It is official. Chivalry is not dead, but it is 14-years-old and living in Oakdale, California.
Cody Mitschelen has captured the hearts and minds of people everywhere after the story of his efforts to take his girlfriend on a date went viral.
Cody didn’t have enough money to take his sweetheart Audrey Fierro out to dinner, but rather than do as so many spoiled teens do he did not make a visit to the bank of mum and dad, instead he set out to earn the cash.
As reported by Buzzfeed, that is where neighbour Ryan Cox came in after Cody turned up at his doorstep offering to mow the lawn.
This 14 year old boy came by the house with a lawnmower wanting to mow our lawn for $5. Well…me being a hustler I had…

As Cox told KCRA he initially refused Cody’s request, but reconsidered when he heard what the teen wanted the money for.
Cox said:
He kind of put his head down, and I said, ‘Wait, wait, wait, why? Why do you want to mow the lawn? What do you need the money for?’ I was assuming a video game or something, you know. ‘Well I want to take my girlfriend out to lunch tomorrow, and I don’t have enough money.’ Sold.
Cox then teamed up with another neighbour to rally enough business for Cody to buy Audrey a meal and flowers.
After the story went viral, with over 90,000 shares of Cox’ Facebook post alone, the young couple were then gifted a candlelit meal at a local pizza parlour.
Way to go Cody, you little Casanova.
