Sorry Harry Potter fans, but this latest news might just break your hearts.

Those who thought who thought that the eighth instalment, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, might mean JK Rowling was not quite finished with the series will be pretty gutted.

The author or dasher of hopes and dreams as we now like to call her, JK revealed that a ninth book wasn’t on the cards.

Speaking at the official opening gala of the play, she told the press:

He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realised so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.

The new story opens nine years later with Potter not grappling with the forces of evil, but instead bureaucracy, as he is now an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic and father of three children who is struggling with his past.

Those who couldn’t get tickets to the London play, lined up around the world to get their hands on the book at midnight last night, with it being the most preordered book since 2007.

Sure, this is pretty sad news to see these magical books come to end, but who knows, the franchise might now live on through a Harry Potter Go instead perhaps?
