Kim Kardashian is facing backlash after she exclaimed the word ‘ret**ded’ when people failed to recognise what she’d dressed as for Halloween.
In among the hoards of celebrity Halloween costumes shared across social media over the past week, Kim K took to her Instagram story to express disappointment that no one knew who she’d dressed as when she attended Kendall Jenner’s Halloween party on Wednesday (October 31).
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star attended the party with best friend Jonathan Cheban, where the pair dressed up as divorced couple Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee.
Anderson seemed to approve of Kim’s costume as she shared a picture of the original outfit alongside Kim’s recreation, writing:
So funny …. @kimkardashian as me for #halloween @mtv awards (what was I thinking?) ha
Unfortunately for Kim however, it seemed no one at the party understood she was supposed to be the former Playboy model.
The 38-year-old complained about the situation on her Instagram story, saying:
Guys, we are Pam Anderson and Tommy Lee. Nobody knows who we are here! You guys are all too f**king young. This is so sad.
Addressing friend Stephanie Shepherd, the reality star could then be heard saying:
Nobody knows who I am! Yeah! Ret**ded!
The video was shared on Twitter, where the caption read:
Here’s a video of Kim Kardashian calling people the R word because they don’t who she is for Halloween. She also uses the word “anorexic” as a compliment. This is not Okay.

Many people were outraged at Kim’s use of the word and also took to social media to share their disapproval.
One angry Twitter user responded:
using the R word on her IG story from yesterday is disgusting. And I really liked her. Watched, followed, bought sh*t, spent like 3 grand on her game. If you use it generally, you use it ALL THE TIME. Done.
Another wrote:
it is 2018. @KimKardashian using the R word is completely unacceptable. please educate yourself.
While a third added:
So disappointed in @KimKardashian’s choice of words regarding people not knowing what her Halloween costume was. Kim, you are a role model for countless people and using this language erases the steps made forward to end the usage of the ‘R’ word.

The reality star has since apologised for her use of the word. Speaking to TMZ, she said:
I want to apologise for what I said in a recent video post that is inappropriate and insensitive to the special needs community.
I try to learn from my mistakes and this is one of those times. Please know that my intention is always pure, and in this case, it was a mistake. I’m sorry.
The apology wasn’t enough for some people however, with one person responding:
Using the R word is simply and purely ignorant and unkind. You can’t just apologise and say it’s a mistake. You have a character flaw.
