Kylie Minogue has launched a legal battle against Kylie Jenner after the reality star tried to trademark their shared first name.
According to The Washington Post, Jenner reportedly filed an application to trademark her name in May 2015.
But last week a firm representing Minogue filed a notice of opposition to Jenner’s application claiming it would ‘dilute her brand’, reports the Guardian.
The notice described Kylie Minogue as:
An internationally renowned performing artist, humanitarian, and breast cancer activist … known worldwide simply as ‘Kylie’.
It didn’t stop there though. As well as filing the counter-suit, the firm also threw some pretty heavy shade in Jenner’s direction.
They described her as:
A secondary reality television personality who appeared on the television series Keeping Up With the Kardashians as a supporting character.
They still had a few more shots to fire though:
Ms. Jenner is active on social media where her photographic exhibitionism and controversial posts have drawn criticism from the Disability Rights and African-American communities.
This dig relates to criticism Jenner received last year for wearing corn rows and for appearing on the cover of Interview magazine in a wheelchair – though she doesn’t need one.
And, of course the twitterverse had some pretty strong opinions on the whole thing:
@ENews That bitch don't own everything – not everyone named Kylie should bow down to her!

@ENews the old one must sit down. She had her whole life to do it. It's not Jenner's fault she didn't act earlier.

Kylie Minogue had her say as well and to be fair, it is simple but effective and seems to drive her point home:
Hello….. My name is KYLIE #lightyears

She’s got a point…
