This couple are just about to put your Valentine’s Day garage-bought card to shame.
Tori Monaco and Berkley Cade accidentally proposed to each other at the same time on Valentine’s Day 2018, during a game of Pictionary, no less – because who says the language of love is dead?
Monaco, a senior at university in Austin, told BuzzFeed News she immediately saw a future with Cade, who’s stationed in the Air Force close by in Texas, soon after they met one year ago online.
Fourth months ago, Cade decided she was going to propose to Monaco and enlisted her partner’s best mate to help find a ring, as well as her own mother, Kristy, to plan how to pop the question.
They decided Cade should ask for Monaco’s hand in marriage during a game of Pictionary in Washington, Cade’s hometown. The day, place and time was set; the ring bought.
Yet imagine Kristy’s surprise when Monaco called her to say she was also planning to propose on the Washington trip.
Cade’s mum got to thinking and put a plan in place which meant the women would both propose at the same time.
Monaco told BuzzFeed News:
[Kristy] said she was planning a fun game night already, so I could do it then so Berk wouldn’t be suspicious.
I said great, I could incorporate it into charades and she said how about Pictionary!
The couple, who describe themselves as ‘two newly engaged lesbians’ who are ‘young and in love’, shared the beautiful moment on their joint YouTube channel and social media.
As it turns out, a bit of meddling from your future mother-in-law is a good thing, because this is what happened next.
Monaco recalled:
When she began drawing the picture and had her hands shaking and was taking so long to draw the prompt, I had my heart pounding thinking, ‘She must know I am going to propose. There is no way she is proposing too.’
When I got down on one knee and proposed and she was struck mute, I figured I would give a speech and she would say yes, but instead she pulls out her own ring.
I [was] laughing at the coincidence, crying tears of happiness and unbelievably shocked that something so perfect was happening to me.
Monaco added:
We are beyond humbled by our relationship. Having so many people support us and find inspiration and happiness in our successful, loving relationship is so amazing.
We are each other’s first same-sex relationship, so we were blown away by our ability to connect with each other immediately and find the happiness we had been looking for.
