A luxury hotel in the Maldives is looking to hire an intern to look after turtles, and if those 16 words haven’t captured your attention let me add this; with all expenses paid.

Yes, you read that right. You could spend your days in the sun surrounded by the glittering ocean and pristine beaches, having all your accommodation and food paid for while doing the wholesome job of looking after turtles.

It would be like you’d died and gone to heaven, except you’d still be able to brag about your life on social media.

The Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu wants the intern to work for two weeks in August, and although the job isn’t paid they’d essentially get a free holiday to the Maldives.

The successful candidate will work alongside one of the UK’s leading specialist turtle veterinary surgeons, Dr Claire Petros, and have responsibilities such as feeding the turtles, cleaning tanks, observing surgeries and medical procedures, attending rescue missions to collect turtles in need and assisting with the release of rehabilitated turtles back into the ocean.

While doing their bit for what I consider some of the ocean’s most awesome inhabitants, the intern will also be gifted some of the resort’s most exciting experiences such as a sunset cruise and a guided group snorkelling trip in Baa Atoll.

They won’t have to worry about shelling out for necessities as the lucky employee will enjoy full board benefits with a Maldivian cuisine buffet available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Coco Palm’s Cowrie restaurant.

Responsibilities extend slightly beyond spending time with the turtles, but only to informing guests about the project, attending presentation evenings and posting updates about the project on its social media pages. It’s hardly a deal-breaker.

If you want to be in with a chance of having a luxury holiday while also helping turtles and gaining some unforgettable experience you can apply at the Coco Collection website.

Applicants must be over 18 years old with an interest in a related field, and must submit a two- to three-minute video and a 500-word cover letter explaining why they think they would be a good fit for the role.

Entries will only be open until July 1, so don’t miss your chance!

Coco Collection will create a shortlist of candidates before the Olive Ridley Project selects the winner.

I have a feeling people are going to be fighting for the chance to get this job!
