A make-up artist was dropped by a homophobic bride as soon as she found out she was gay.
Kristian Cardenas was approached by the unnamed bride via text message enquiring about makeup for her wedding, but was soon asked to answer ‘a few questions’.
Expecting to be asked about her prices or cosmetic style, the Texan make-up artist was taken aback when she was asked if she was gay.
The exchange began with the bride telling Kristian she had done a friend’s makeup and asking her to quote her prices. After she did, the unknown woman dropped the bombshell that she saw her Facebook page and couldn’t figure out if she was gay or not.
Kristian has been praised for the calm and mature way she handled the situation, simply telling the woman to ‘have a nice day’.
However, the bigoted woman wasn’t leaving things be, going on to lecture the makeup artist with her views on why ‘being gay is a sin’.
Sharing screenshots of the shocking texts, Kristian wrote on Twitter:
openly sharing who i am with the world is my choice; a choice i will never apologize for. i love what i do and who i am. today i was taken back a little bit. homophobia is a real issue still in 2019. please just be kind to everyone you meet.
After informing Kristian she didn’t want a gay person involved in her wedding, the bridezilla continued to share her unwanted opinion.
One of the texts read:
I still have more questions. How can you be a latina woman and be gay? You do know being gay is a sin correct
The woman continued to say she would ‘pray’ for the makeup artist, apologising for the fact she’s ‘chosen a path that’s going to send [her] straight to hell’.
Ignorantly, she then informed Kristian to contact her if she ‘at any chance changes [her] mind about being gay,’ so she can book her. Wow.
Kristian didn’t reply to the bride, instead using the awful exchange as a way to raise awareness for LGBTQ+ rights and urging her followers to ‘be kind to everyone you meet’.
