Police are searching for a man who disguised himself as a delivery driver, before shooting a woman with a hidden crossbow.

Although the 44-year-old victim survived the attack, which took place in Mississauga, Canada, November last year, police have said she’ll never be the same again.

Peel Regional Police are appealing for help with the attempted murder investigation, asking the public to help track down the man, who they believe is a hitman.

Publishing an appeal on their website, Peel Regional Police have also released security footage of the attack.

The suspect can be seen waiting at the door, dressed as a delivery driver carrying a large box which concealed the crossbow.

Following a brief conversation with the resident, the man shot the victim and then fled the scene.

While investigating, police found an arrow they believe is the one which injured the woman. It’s said to be designed for hunting large animals, inflicting ‘the maximum amount of damage possible’.

The police are treating the crime as a ‘targeted’ attack, adding:

Investigators believe this was a premeditated, targeted and isolated attack based on the conversation that occurred between the victim and the suspect.

Investigators have identified a vehicle they believe may be involved in this incident. The vehicle is a dark coloured pickup truck and arrived in the area of the residence minutes before the attack took place and fled minutes after.

Suffering life-threatening injuries, the woman was taken to hospital where she spent several months recovering.

As reported by The Toronto Star, Peel Regional Police Det. Sgt. Jim Kettles told media at a press conference they are ensuring her safety:

The injuries she sustained were absolutely devastating. It involved damage to a lot of her internal organs. She’ll be in recovery phase for the rest of her life… Her life will never be the same.

We are doing everything we can to support her right now. She’s in a place of safety. She will continue to have a struggle to get back to her new normal, considering the injuries she sustained.

Police haven’t revealed ‘potential motives’ for the attack have been identified, but will not be revealed at the present time.
