Usually people get married for all sorts of reasons: love, money, visas. It’s something that many of us will experience.
But the proposal for the wedding is usually a very traditional affair.
Either the gent gets down on one knee, or hides the ring in a glass of champagne, or nowadays pulls an elaborate flash dance in Disneyland followed by a ridiculous fireworks display and aeroplane banner.
Perhaps even stranger, is the engagement of Amanda Barr and Stuart Gunn…
Amanda has been badgering Stuart to marry her for the past ten years, but he kept saying no.
So Amanda decided to take matters into her own hands.
With Stuart’s agreement, she posted a status on Facebook, saying Stuart would agree to marry her if the post racked up 500 likes.
Predictably, the article went viral and ended up with 22,000 likes and 10,000 shares.
The post was captioned ‘Let’s get me down the aisle guys’.
The full post read:
So as many of you already know me and Stuart has Been together now for 13 years we have 3 amazing beautifull children, a lovely home, were are happy and content.

LETS GET ME DOWN THE AISLE GUYS (sic)
It took considerably less than a month to get to 500 likes, with the post reaching the goal in less than an hour!
Amanda, 27, from Blackpool said:
I can’t believe it has gone like it has. I’ve had messages from Australia, Poland and America
While Stuart added:
If 22,000 people reckon I should marry Amanda then I should get on with it. It’s about time.
Who said romance is dead?
