Meghan Markle and Prince Harry revealed they’re expecting a baby, but they broke the news to the Royal family at the ‘worst possible time’.

The announcement was made this morning (October 15), alongside the fact the newest little royal will arrive in Spring 2019.

Sharing the revelation on social media, the Kensington Palace Twitter account wrote:

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019.

Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.

Although the announcement has only been made to the public today, the couple’s family learnt of the happy news three days ago. Which, you may realise, was the same day as another royal occasion.

According to the Mail, Harry and Meghan told the Royal family about their pregnancy on Princess Eugenie’s wedding day, which took place on Friday (October 12).

While it’s obviously amazing news, you’d think they could have waited a day or so, just so as not to take the attention away from Eugenie on her special day.

Maybe Eugenie will get her own back by announcing her pregnancy on the day Meghan and Harry’s baby is born? This might be the start of some Royal rivalries…

Many members of the public thought the same about the announcement being unfortunately simultaneous with the celebration of Princess Eugenie’s marriage.

One person wrote:

Harry and Meghan casually trumping Princess Eugenie’s wedding with a BABY #thunderstooooolen #HarryandMeghan #RoyalWedding [sic]

While another added:

The news said Meghan and Harry told the Royals about the baby at Eugenie’s wedding. That’s a bit of a sh**ty thing to do on someone else’s wedding day. #RoyalBaby [sic]

Former Made In Chelsea star, Ashley James, also shared her thoughts, writing:

So happy for Meghan and Harry… But they announced it at Eugenie’s wedding? If I ever get married my friends and family better keep their engagements and baby announcements off my wedding day. [sic]

Harry and Meghan have arrived in Sydney today to begin their first tour outside of the UK and Ireland, which will see them visit Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga over 16 days.

The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall and Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly said to be ‘delighted’ for the couple and their announcement.

Hopefully the announcement didn’t take the spotlight away from Princess Eugenie and her wedding day too much!

Congratulations, Harry and Meghan! (And Princess Eugenie, of course).
