Meghan Markle ‘Breaks Royal Rules’ During Trooping The Colour Parade

Today, (June 9), sees the Trooping the Colour parade in London to mark the Queen’s 92nd birthday.

Prince Philip, who turns 97 on Sunday – and retired from royal duties last year – did not attend the military parade.

However, all the usuals were there for the military parade, including Prince Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and newlyweds, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

For Meghan Markle, it seems it’s another day of coming out trumps in the fashion stakes.

Wearing a bespoke pink Carolina Herrera design, the actor-turned-Duchess wowed the crowds, looking every inch the modern-day royal.

Fans and spectators have shared their thoughts on social media, commenting on how ‘glam’ and ‘dazzling’ she looks:

Yes, it seems the newest member of the royal family has set fashion tongues wagging after appearing at her first Trooping the Colour, in a rule-breaking dress, alongside her husband, Prince Harry.

The former Suits star has apparently overlooked one royal fashion rule: exposing her shoulders.

Fashion tradition usually dictates that Royal women do not wear off-shoulder or other more revealing styles, reports The Sun.

Now, I for one would like to think of myself as a bit of a rule-breaker – a bit of a rebel if you will, so bravo to Meghan for doing what she wants – with her OWN wardrobe!

Regardless of what royal protocol may or may not be, the Duchess clearly still controls her own fashion choices and opted for a dress – very similar to the Givenchy design she wore on her big day.

Large crowds of spectators gathered to watch Saturday’s ceremony, which saw around 1,000 soldiers march to Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall.

Among the soldiers taking part is Guardsman Charanpreet Singh Lall, a 22-year-old Sikh from Leicester, who will become the first soldier to wear a turban in the parade’s history.

Speaking prior to the event, Charanpreet told the BBC:

I’m quite proud and I know that a lot of other people are proud of me as well.

For myself, being the first turban-wearing Sikh to troop the colour and to be part of the escort it is a really high honour for myself, and hopefully for everyone else as well.

My mum was crying on the day I passed out so I wonder what is going to happen to her when she sees me in this.

Back to Meghan though!

She matched her light-pink off-shoulder dress with an elegant fascinator – looks more like a trendy hat to me, but tomato (American accent), tomato (English accent).

They do say rules are there to be broken, so maybe that’s all she’s doing?

In the grand scheme of things – who cares? She looked elegant, behaved in an appropriate manner, and she’s still new to all this royal family lark, so I think we can let her off!
