Mum Gives Birth To Baby In Her Car On The Way To Hospital

Giving birth is a hard process already, imagine having to do it within the confines of the front seat of your car.

I’d imagine it’s a proper ‘FML’ moment as you’re put in this position to deliver life. It’s the situation a mother-of-four found herself in when she had no choice but to deliver her fifth child while in the passenger seat of the family car.

As she was giving birth her husband records her going through labour while her kids casually observe in the back seat.

Not the best place to give birth, but it’s better than nothing:

Credit to the couples’ kids who are sitting in the back watching on nonchalantly. They’re given a first-hand look at the messy miracle of life and they handle it with the poise, grace and maturity.

I’m pretty sure it would possibly put me off the idea of childbirth if I had to see it at such an impressionable age.

The video starts with the husband, Dominique Swinney, asking his wife, Alexis: ‘Can you wait like two minutes?’

For what exactly? It’s not like his wife’s contractions are running on a planned schedule. Also, the fact she has her pants off should indicate that childbirth waits for no one.

He goes on to say ‘Hold on, wait, wait, wait’, again what exactly are you waiting for? It’s not like you can go down there and say ‘excuse me my soon-to-be offspring but could you politely wait till we get to the hospital?’ His wife screams back ‘I don’t know what’s happening’.

I mean you guys have had four kids already, this isn’t exactly your first rodeo, is it? You should know exactly what’s happening.

Within a mere few moments, Alexis has given birth and she’s carefully cradling her newborn baby in her arms. I suppose that’s the beauty of childbirth, one minute it’s all chaos and confusion and the next there’s this sense of serenity and overwhelming emotion. Because in your arms is a tiny little life – which will grow up to cause you untold aggravation.

With the drama reaching its crescendo Dominique turns the camera to his kids, who throughout this intense occasion maintained a relatively cool demeanour.

The video was posted on their family Instagram page, with the video racking up over 22.2K views.

It was accompanied by a caption which stated:

There was something beyond special, about getting to deliver my own baby. No doctors or nurses, no lights, or busy people, no one interrupting a moment that should be the most special moments for families as they bring life into the world. The pain was there, but the joy and peace that followed in those minutes we got to spend alone with our sweet girl was more rewarding then anything I could have asked for.
