Kids today must have it so hard with the combination of the eternal problem of embarrassing mums and the more recent awkwardness generator we know as social media.

Think about it. Back before Facebook, Snapchat and Twitter infiltrated every aspect of your life, if you were sent to school with a dodgy barnet or ill-fitting hand-me-downs your shame wouldn’t get much further than the edge of town.

But those days are long gone, which is great if you are someone who enjoys revelling in other people’s misery.

So how embarrassing are we talking? Well, look at the picture below. Look like anything to you?

Elementary school lad Anthony McCullar picked the t-shirt out of a bag of hand-me-down clothes which his mum, Shelly, had yet to go through.

With an innocent mind Anthony thought it was just a McDonald’s t-shirt – well it does have the company slogan ‘I’m lovin’ it’ written on it, give the lad a chance.

He wore the t-shirt to Travis Elementary School in Pampa, Texas, without his mum ever seeing it.

You’ve got to imagine her face when she saw him come home in it.

Shelly has now apologised to the school for the wardrobe mishap.

In an adorable clip posted to Facebook Anthony explains that after he picked the shirt out and wore it to school, his teachers thought it was a fast food t-shirt.

Anthony said:

They thought it was McDonald’s too!

Of course they did, Anthony. Of course they did.

Shelly’s post of the hilarious mix up includes an apology to Anthony’s school.

Once again, my sincere apologies to the teachers and staff at Travis Elementary. I promise from now on to monitor what…

I had no idea Anthony wore this to school!!

She added:

Just to clarify, I would never let my kid wear something like this. A friend had given me some hand me down clothes for Anthony. I haven’t had the chance to completely go through them. I will tonight though!!

Through my embarrassment, I did lmao!!

The post uploaded on Wednesday April 4 has racked up 62,000 reactions, either Likes, Wows or Hahas (thankfully no Angry emojis), over 76,000 shares and the video of Anthony has had 6.2 million views.

With those kinds of numbers Anthony should be treated to a sharing box of chicken nuggets.

McDonald's

The fast food behemoth has introduced a sharing box, which is specifically designed for sharing with your mates.

The boxes are filled with both McNuggets and Cheese Bites and I wouldn’t plan on sharing any of those if I can level with you.

The box contains 15 McNuggets and 10 Cheese Bites, but they’re not yet available in the UK. They’re being rolled out across Spain, but if things go well, then they could almost certainly make their way over here.

When you think about it, if you put a t-shirt on like that, whatever you’re age, you’re probably going to go viral in one sense of the word or other.
