A mum’s brilliant gender reveal photoshoot for her transgender son has gone viral.

Heather Green, from Louisville, Kentucky, shares a post on Facebook every year for her son’s birthday (January 29).

However, this year Heather’s post was very special as she celebrated her son, Adrian Brown, recently coming out as transgender in September.

20 years after giving birth to Adrian, Heather shared pictures from a gender reveal photoshoot, something expecting parents usually do.

Donning a fake baby bump, Heather can be seen posing with blue balloons while Adrian is covered in clothes which read ‘it’s a boy’.

The mum captioned the photos:

When your child comes out as trans, the best thing to do is create a photoshoot to celebrate the fact that he silently and bravely stepped out of the race that he never wanted to be in, found his own lane and proceeded to win. HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, Adrian!

You are without a doubt the most fascinating human I know and I will always be your biggest fan! I love you, I honor who you are and I respect your courage to be unapologetically you!! Lets celebrate!!

Since being shared online in January, it’s received over 32,000 likes, with people applauding the mum, as well as wishing Adrian many congratulations.

Although the photoshoot is a very clever idea, it wasn’t planned, with Heather deciding to take the pictures after a trip to Party City.

The mum did plan to celebrate her son’s coming out though telling Wave 3 News:

There was no rule book for what a mom is supposed to do when their child comes to them and says, ‘This is my truth’. This was just uncharted territory. And as much as I was wanting to support him, I was also wanting him to know that it wasn’t just acceptance, or that I was going to put up with him – I was going to celebrate it.

I mean my kids are used to me coming up with these harebrained schemes all the time. He was like, ‘You’re crazy, but, yes of course,’ which was a fair reaction.

A ‘harebrained scheme’ or not, the internet clearly loves the photoshoot, something which gives ‘hope’ to Adrian.

Happy Birthday and congratulations!
