Twin newborn babies from Brazil have been rescued after being abandoned in a bush.

The two little girls were so young that their umbilical cords were still attached to their tiny bodies when they were discovered by a group of women – who first mistook them for puppies – however, they were about to get the shock of their lives…

According to one of the women, Tamela Ribeiro:

I thought they were a dog and when I looked at them I realised they were two babies.

It’s believed the kids were left by a person driving a white van, who left the scene in a hurry, according to Police Spokesman Guilherme Zasevski Almeida.

The babies were taken to hospital by officers where it was discovered they had been born at full term before being quickly abandoned by their mother. One girl was 6lb whereas the other was a tiny 3.7lb and they will now remain in hospital while they get up to a healthy weight.

Thankfully, they are in a stable condition despite their horrific start in life…

The children have been given beautifully heroic names by hospital staff. One girl has been named Eloa, meaning ‘God’ whereas her sister has been named ‘Heloisa’ which means ‘warrior woman’. A perfect fit for these strong little girls.

Once they are ready, they will be taken into a care facility while they wait to be adopted.

We just hope they get the warm and welcoming home that they deserve after their terrifying ordeal.
