The country was gripped by fear when rumours surfaced suggesting Fanta Lemon was going to be discontinued in the UK, but we can all relax now, because it’s here to stay.
There’s nothing that says summer like cracking open an ice cold can of Fanta Lemon while the sun beats down on you, and everyone knows Fanta Lemon is the ultimate summer drink. So when people heard the refreshing lemony goodness might be no longer available, the UK went into meltdown and called for summer to be cancelled.
The rumours began when someone tweeted Fanta about our favourite citrus drink, asking if the company had discontinued Fanta Lemon.
The company’s reply confirmed the person’s fears, and said:
Sadly, yes, Fanta Lemon was discontinued. But, you can check out our 12 flavours at Fanta.com to see what’s available near you.
We don’t want 12 flavours, we want Fanta Lemon!
Devastated consumers spilled their emotions on Twitter, writing:
Fanta lemon being discontinued has made me want to discontinue my life wtf every summer to come is ruined
Finding out that Fanta lemon is being discontinued has ruined my day.
Just saw they stopped making Fanta Lemon, what am I meant to sit and eat at the pool with my packet of Lays on holiday? Fanta orange? Not the f**king same.
Combined with the recent Love Island drama, this news was just about the worst thing that could have happened to Britain.
But fear not, because thankfully Fanta have taken to Twitter to confirm that while ‘Fanta Lemon is not available in the US, it has not been discontinued elsewhere’. (Sucks to be the US.)
They also apologised for the confusion the original tweet caused people. They’re lucky no riots broke out from people trying to stock up.
The tweet read:
Summer is still on! Even though Fanta Lemon is still not available in the US, it has not been discontinued elsewhere! We apologize for any confusion.
It’s just as well – us Brits wouldn’t have been able to complete the ‘holiday’ illusion this heatwave is giving us without our favourite summer drink.
It doesn’t just have to come as it is either, as Fanta Lemon fanatics have explored the realms of even icier deliciousness by creating Fanta Lemon slushies – the ideal beverage on these brilliantly hot days.
Relief has flooded the nation, with people raising their Fanta Lemons to the sky in celebration of the drink’s continuation in our country.
They wrote:
The relief of finding out that @fanta lemon being discontinued was just a horrible misunderstanding
PHEW. I nearly had a MELTDOWN when I first thought you’d completely discontinued it!
FANTA LEMON IS STILL AVAILABLE IN THE UK AND EUROPE THEY ARE NOT DISCONTINUING HERE. RT TO SAVE A LIFE
While we’re unable to predict what dramatic changes Love Island will bring us throughout the summer, at least we can be safe in the knowledge that Fanta Lemon will be here.
