If there’s one thing kids these days love, it’s smartphones, and they’re always quick to ask what games you have on yours – have you ever noticed this?

My young cousins constantly ask ‘what games you got?’ the very second I pull my phone out of my handbag.

It turns out, this is universal. A guy travelling on the New York subway found this out recently.

Watch the heartwarming exchange between the strangers:

Sitting there minding his business, the man was busy playing on his phone, as many commuters do, to pass the time when the kid next to him started looking over at the phone, and ‘chirping in’ with advice.

Suddenly, the man looks over and hands his phone over to the little passenger beside him, so the boy could play a game as they travelled together.

Footage of the sweet exchange was caught on video by fellow passenger Kia Tatiyana Davis, who happened to be at the right place and the right time to witness the act of kindness.

Davis later posted the exchange to her Facebook page, where it has been viewed more than 27,000 views.

She wrote:

What I witnessed today on the train. I almost cried y’all.

That’s awesome!! That boy will talk about that for days to his friends. [sic].

Another added:

That little boy is so cute and sweet. I would’ve let him use my phone too.

I love to see videos like this it show there’s nice people out there.

Back in 2016, a 70-year-old woman travelling on public transport stunned passengers with a random act of kindness, when she helped a man reportedly suffering from mental health issues.

The story was posted on Facebook by Ehab Taha who claimed passenger had felt intimidated by the man’s ‘erratic behaviour’.

Ehab said the man was potentially struggling with drug abuse or enduring a severe mental health episode, swearing and displaying aggression.

According to Ehab, everybody on the train ignored the man, all except for one elderly woman who simply held his hand and offered him some comfort.

Writing alongside the heartwarming image, Ehab said:

I saw the most incredible display of humanity on the skytrain.

A six foot five man suffering from drug abuse and/or mental health issues was being very aggressive on the bus with erratic movements, cursing, shouting, etc. While everyone was scared, this one seventy year old woman reached out her hand, tightly gripping his hand until he calmed down, sat down silently, with eventual tears in his eyes.

I spoke to the woman after this incident and she simply said, ‘I’m a mother and he needed someone to touch’. And she started to cry. Don’t fear or judge the stranger on the bus: life does not provide equal welfare for all its residents.

There is a world full of good people out there.
