GettySteve Martin made a bit of a ‘blunder’ with his remembrance tweet for Carrie Fisher and got slammed so hard for it, he was forced to take it down.
Fans and critics slated his choice of words, deeming them ‘sexist,’ which prompted him to remove the offending article.
The Princess Leia actress, shocked the movie world when she died suddenly on December 27th, after a heart attack aged just 60.
GettyGrammy-winning Steve took to Twitter to share his condolences, only to be met with a furious backlash, the Daily Mail reports.
He posted:
When I was a young man, Carrie Fisher was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She turned out to be witty and bright as well.
TwitterTwitter users were outraged by Steve’s ‘thoughtless’ tweet and slated him for using Carrie’s looks to celebrate her life and career.

New York Magazine were so up-in-arms about the post, they created a whole article, demonising Steve for his social media ‘slip up.’

Not everyone was horrified about Steve’s outburst though, with many rushing to the 71-year-old’s side in support of his tribute.

I don’t think that Steve meant anything hurtful or offensive by his comment, it was perhaps just a misguided attempt at making a joke in the light of the recent, devastating events.
Either way, things quickly got out of hand…
