Europe is in the throes of a bit of a cold snap at the moment to say the least, and while the UK has ground to a standstill, other countries are faring much better.
If our waterways froze over in Britain, it would be all we’d talk about for months to come, but in Amsterdam they just whack their ice skates on and get on with life.
It’s the first time the canals in Amsterdam have frozen over in about six years, according to The Guardian, but locals and tourists alike have taken to the ice to get around.

Photographs have surfaced online of people making their way around the city, but there have still been reports of people falling through the ice.
Two skaters took to the ice on Thursday, though it was not quite thick enough, and they fell through the ice. Luckily, they were rescued by a passerby.
Meanwhile in the UK, we decided to have some fun in the weather in a much less dignified fashion, by hurling big lumps of snow at each other.

Hundreds of people gathered in a massive field to partake in the biggest snowball fight of the century, because why the hell not?
The result was as epic as you could imagine, as more than 300 people flocked to Clifton Downs in Bristol on Friday.
The event began on Facebook as a joke, but quickly became a real thing after 2,000 people registered their interest.

Carlos Sandin, who created the Facebook event, even wrote a bunch of rules for people to abide by.
Predictably, the whole thing got a bit out of hand, but the footage looked as though everybody had a great time, including some people showing up in incredible fancy dress.
People have been comparing the incredible battle to the likes seen in Braveheart and Game of Thrones, and tbh we’re very jealous we weren’t there.
