Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are like most betrothed couples busy with their wedding plans and filled with excitement.

They’ve probably got a massive team of wedding planners making decisions for them, especially for the ceremony itself, which will have to be old-style and traditional, just like Will and Kate’s, but unlike any wedding you’d ever be invited to.

Hopefully Meghan will bring a bit of the American wedding tradition – at least to the reception. And hopefully that involves sticking up some old photos of the married couple so guests can have a good laugh and look at how far they’ve both come since their youths.

If they do this, then we would like to humbly suggest this picture for consideration: Meghan sat outside Buckingham Palace at the age of 15.

The image, printed in the Daily Mail on Wednesday, and posted by Splash News, shows a young Meghan Markle sat in front of Buckingham Palace with a mate.

Little did she know that in 21 years time she would be marrying the grandson of the woman who owns that very palace.

Everyone remembers wishing they could be royalty when they grew up, and judging by the snap, Meghan is no different.

It needs to be noted though, the Daily Mail statement about Meghan becoming a princess isn’t entirely accurate, in fact it has been rumoured her official title will be Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.

Meghan won’t become a princess, contrary to popular opinion, as the title is reserved for women who are born into the Royal Family.

It’s predicted the newlyweds will be dubbed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after their nuptials are complete after the Queen promised the title to Harry on the provision he got married, the Sunday People reported.

This has been speculated as the role hasn’t been filled since 1843.

The ‘prince’ and ‘princess’ title is reserved for those who are born into the Royal Family, but by convention they may be referred to by their partner’s name.

For example, in an archaic tradition, Kate can be referred to as Princess William, so Meghan will be officially referred to as Princess Henry – Henry is Harry’s real name.

The official engagement announcement was made on Monday on Twitter.

The announcement read:

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle.

The wedding will take place in Spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.

The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

We know it’s not quite Buckingham Palace, but Meghan can’t really argue with how far she’s come since that photo with her mate.

It just goes to show you never know what life could throw at you.
