They call Pitbull ‘Mr. Worldwide’ but until now it was just the worst nickname in music.
Not anymore. The rapper has gone and given some meaning to the moniker after it was revealed he had sent his private plane to Puerto Rico so cancer patients could receive chemotherapy in the United States.
I’m not going to lie to you, when I first read this story I assumed it was an actual pit bull that was organising the overseas treatment of poorly Puerto Ricans. Obviously, the reality is a trifle less astounding but still unbelievably honourable nonetheless.
The singer, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, was lauded by Puerto Rico congresswoman Jenniffer Gonzalez for his kind act.
She wrote:
Thank you Pitbull for lending your private plane to move cancer patients from PR to USA so that they can get chemo.
The On The Floor singer told Daily News ‘Thanks God we’re blessed to help. Just doing my part.’
It comes after the island nation was left without power after being ravaged by Hurricane Maria.
His collaborator Jennifer Lopez was recently in the news for donating a phenomenal $1 million to those affected by the humanitarian crisis.
In a statement Jen said:
What’s foremost in my mind and many others, is trying to figure out the best way to help.
Our island of Puerto Rico has been hit by two of the most devastating hurricanes we’ve ever seen: Irma and Maria. Today, Puerto Rico needs our help.
I urge you to support and donate to the efforts of the first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rossello.
