Police Reveal Circumstances Of Love Island Star Sophie Gradon’s Death

Police have revealed the circumstances surrounding the death of Love Island’s Sophie Gradon.

It was Sophie’s boyfriend Aaron Armstrong who confirmed the sad news on his Facebook page on Thursday (June 21).

Taking to social media, Armstrong said he’d ‘never forget’ Sophie’s smile.

Sophie, from Newcastle, was crowned Miss Great Britain in 2009, and was also a former Miss Newcastle.

She made history on Love Island when she paired up with Katie Salmon, forming the show’s first same-sex couple.

Tragically, Sophie, who was just 32, was found dead at home at 8.27pm yesterday (June 20).

Northumbria Police released the following statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Sophie’s death:

At about 8.27pm yesterday (June 20) police attended a property in Medburn, Ponteland, where sadly a 32-year-old woman was found deceased.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.

Tributes are being posted online by Sophie’s friends, and fellow reality television personalities.

Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan revealed Sophie had been helping her out with social media trolls.

Writing:

@sophiegradon you were only helping me battle the twitter trolls yesterday. Rest in peace beautiful. [sic].

Olivia Buckland, who appeared on the same series of Love Island as Sophie described her as a ‘creative, intelligent soul’.

Writing:

Awful, awful news this morning. I am gutted. I am so sorry the world failed you. You were such an intricate, creative, intelligent soul. Words fail me.

You helped us through so much. Your smile was one in a million. The world failed. I send all my love and my thoughts to you today.

To your family and your loved ones. I cannot work out what to say. RIP you beautiful beautiful woman. I’m so lucky to have met you. #stayshapey.

Rebecca Jane, who was on Big Brother wrote:

I nearly just messaged @sophiegradon to tell her about the fake news going around that she’s passed, but it’s actually true! You beautiful, beautiful young girl! If only you’d told me what you were going through.Devastated. No one ever knows what’s going on behind closed doors.

If there’s one thing anyone can do for @sophiegradon now.. please talk to someone. If you’re struggling, don’t do it alone. I’d have been the first flying up that motorway to her if only I knew..and I’d do it for anyone who felt they had to take their life! Just talk! Please. [sic].

Calum Best also tweeted in tribute to his friend.

He wrote:

Jesus how sad what a good woman and friend I’m so sorry for this loss ! My thoughts and prayers are with her family . So damn sad @sophiegradon RIP. [sic].

Sophie’s ex-boyfriend Ashley Lenco also posted on Facebook saying:

I just genuinely can’t believe it, I’ve never felt so strongly for someone else in my life apart from family we was intense and close and madly in love but if people can stop asking me.

I only wanna speak to people who care about me and who cared about her. RIP. [sic].

Sophie had been active on social media on the day of her death when she tweeted in response to a tweet about this year’s series of Love Island, which is currently running.

The day before, Sophie had posted a video of Aaron dancing with a dog, describing him as the ‘love of her life’.

She wrote:

When the love of your life loves his dogs like this you know he’s the one. She’s cuddling him right back… & those arms. [sic].

Rest in peace, Sophie.
