Pornhub has released their top 10 most popular searches of 2018, and people have been treating themselves to some, shall we say, non-traditional stuff.
The website’s Year in Review reveals the ‘trends, tech and types of porn’ that users have been using to satisfy themselves these past 12 months.
33.5 billion people visited Pornhub this year – that’s a daily average of 92 million visitors – each with their own personal preferences for what gets them hot and heavy.
There was a total of 30.3 billion searches this year, but as their yearly round-up shows, certain categories proved more popular than others.
The Pornhub site explains how their searches are often influenced by mainstream media and pop culture events, and this year has been no different.
Following the exposure of President Donald Trump’s non-disclosure agreement with a porn star, searches for the tanned, blonde 72-year-old peaked.
I’m joking, of course. No one wants to see that.
It was in fact the porn star in question, Stormy Daniels, who took top spot for the most popular search in 2018, with the site seeing peaks in interest for her every time she featured on the news.
The runner up is both surprising and not surprising, given how this topic took the world by storm – Fortnite.
While many people dedicated their interest in the video game to killing the other 99 players and dancing after each victory, some apparently wanted to get a little more up close and personal with the characters.
In fact, when Fortnite’s servers went down in April, searches for pornographic versions of the video game increased by as much as 60 per cent in 24 hours.
Dr Laurie Betito, Director of the Pornhub Sexual Wellness Center, explained some of the reasoning behind the unusual search, saying:
Searches like these serve as an indication that people use this site to not only satisfy sexual urges but also to get a different angle on something they are already interested in.
To see a famous character or hot topic in a sexual context.
Third on the list were people who wanted to have a crystal clear view of their porn by searching ‘4K’, while those who wanted a little more emotion from the website came fourth with the search ‘romantic’.
Other 10 top searches included, in order, ‘trans’, ‘outdoor’, ‘tattoo’, ‘tinder’, ‘bowsette’ (like the female version of Mario’s Bowser) and ‘threesome’.
As for the celebrities, following Stormy Daniels was Kim Kardashian, who achieved over 26 million Pornhub searches.
Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Selena Gomez also made the top 10, while musical artist Boonk Gang was the most searched male celebrity, coming in at number seven on the list. Don’t worry, I didn’t know who he was either.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo was the second male in the top 10, though he only just scraped through as he took the final spot.
Though she didn’t make the top 10, people have apparently been trying to watch Meghan Markle do some things that would almost certainly break royal rules as searches for her reached 2.5 million, with an increase by 2812 per cent on May 21 when she married Prince Harry.
There’s certainly some weird interests out there!
