A pub landlord has lost just over an astonishing 13 stone in less than a year.

41-year-old Adam Joy had a diet which included a full English breakfast and at least seven pints of Stella a day, but has undergone an incredible transformation, losing 13-and-a-half stone of extra body fat.

Amazingly, Adam is now closer than ever to his goal of having a well-defined six pack. Move over Cristiano Ronaldo!

Adam revealed he started his weight-loss journey after struggling to climb up the stairs, as well as suffering from elevated blood pressure.

At this point, the father-of-two decided to get in touch with his local Slimming World.

He said:

I couldn’t get up the stairs, there was even a time at Twickenham where I couldn’t get up to the next floor to watch the game.

However, Adam revealed there’s one big factor which has helped him drop the weight – and that’s getting off the pints.

As well as embarking on a fitness routine, which includes early-morning runs with his personal trainer, Adam from Kent says he’s kept the weight off by cutting out his late-night drinking sessions and substituted his pints, for gin.

The fast food has been swapped for lean, protein packed breakfasts – so he can still enjoy at least a modified full English – and in under a year, his weight-loss has reached 13.5 stone.

He revealed:

Now I still enjoy myself, I drink gin and slimline and still eat a cooked breakfast with bubble and squeak – just with leaner sausages.

Andy, from Kent, states his new lifestyle has given him more energy and more drive:

The message I want to get across to people is that fad diets did not change my weight, it’s about long term strategies.

I’m close to achieving my goal of getting a six pack, I have until New Years Eve to complete it.

I now run four times a week and I go to the gym three or four times as well where I hit the weights.

Andy’s waistline has reduced by six inches, thanks to his healthier choices, exercise, and long walks with his dog. His blood pressure has also improved.

His success at Slimming World saw him win the Man of the Year competition, which has led to him becoming a fat-loss mentor in Bexley, south east London.

His triumph with weight loss has rubbed off on some of his patients too – as a part-time weight-loss consultant Adam has taken on 20 overweight clients – with one couple losing 17 pounds in just a week.

His weight loss group – which has had over fifty new members – have lost a combined 20 stone in their first two weeks.

To keep up his good work – for himself and others – Andy puts on healthy curry nights at this pub, (the Bird in Hand, in Dartford), and also stocks 14 different ‘healthy’ gin options.

Adam is on a mission to encourage more men to follow in his footsteps and join slimming clubs, which he says have helped keep him on track:

I lost my first 11 stone in seven months through doing no additional exercise – it’s all about the diet to begin with.

I want to tell anyone on this journey to never give up aspiring to be the person you want to be.

Despite reaching his ‘ideal weight’ of 13 stone, Andy says he still really wants a six pack – hoping to achieve one before New Year’s Eve.

Well done Andy, what an inspiration!
