The Harry Potter film series may have transformed Rupert Grint into a household name but he didn’t let the fame get to his head and used his fortune to pursue his childhood dream.

Unlike his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, who’ve gone on to star in a number of big Hollywood films, everyone’s favourite ginger has led a pretty low key life after Potter came to an end only appearing in a few smaller movies.

However it seems that Grint was busy pursuing another dream, in an interview with the Daily Mail back in 2014 Rupert confessed to buying an ice cream van to fulfil his childhood dreams.

He said:

My first ambition was to become an ice-cream man, which is why I bought the Bedford van. Not long after I first got it, I pulled into a pub to do a U-turn and there were eight kids with their pocket money out, hoping to buy a 99 or whatever. But I had nothing to give them. I’ve learnt my lesson since then.

After his embarrassing gaffe though he made sure that he’d never disappointed the kids again.

He explained:

I keep my van well stocked. It’s got a proper machine that dispenses Mr Whippy ice cream and I buy my lollies wholesale – 50 for a tenner – so I never run short. I’m not allowed to sell my merchandise. I’d need a licence for that.

Being the absolutely legend that he is, he even brought it to the last day of filming Harry Potter as a treat for the whole cast.
