Some people say our friends are actually our soulmates and this group of gal pals just proved it by buying their dream house so they can all grow old together.

What started as a joke lead to the group of seven women buying their dream property in the suburbs of Guangzhou, south eastern Guangdong province in China together, to renovate it into their retirement home.

The woman spent four million yuan (£462,000) refurbishing the gorgeous three-storey mansion which even boasts floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a huge kitchen complete with a tea pavilion and of course, a swimming pool.

One of the friends, Jin Du, told Yītiáo:

We said we would get together when we were 60 and live the retired life together.

All seven of the women, who are now in their thirties, met 20 years ago while working together and have been best friends ever since.

The impressive 7,535 square foot home has seven bedrooms for each of the women and is surrounded by paddy fields in a quaint village, around 70 kilometres away from Guangzhou city centre.

All seven of the women share a love for drinking tea, which prompted them to build the tea pavilion right in the middle of the field, which connects to their mansion with a bamboo walkway.

Jin continued:

We’ll cook, have barbecues in the fields, sing and collect food form the village.

The friends have all made a pact to one another to each master a skill that would be useful to their lives in retirement, like cooking, traditional Chinese medicine, growing vegetables and playing music.

We’re all independent individuals but we can communicate and rely on each other at the same time.

Ten years later our children would have all grown up. So we hope we can be together again in 10 years.

These women have officially taken ‘friendship goals’ to the next level and achieved everything most of us dreamed of from meeting our besties as children.

I can’t help but wonder if all these women are single, or what they’re planning to do with their other halves when they move into the mansion? What happens if one of them gets married between now and their retirement?

Either way – these women are living the dream and I have nothing but respect for them.
