After no-one showed up to this little boy’s pre-planned birthday party, a group of superheroes stepped up to give him a surprise he’ll never forget.
Seven-year-old Max was desperate for a ‘friends-only’ birthday celebration, but was left devastated when, out of the 30 other kids he’d invited, just one child, along with his sister, showed up for the party at a trampoline park in Houston, Texas, USA.
The youngster failed to hide his excitement when a string of superheroes turned up to another party which had been organised for little Max, just a month later.
Watch the sweet footage below:
Max’s mother, Susann, simply told her son to keep his chin up and not be upset at what had happened. She instructed him to tell everyone his party was great.
In the meantime however, she’d reached out to a local radio station, 94.5 FM The Buzz, asking their presenters to explain to listeners, the importance of RSVPing to such event invites.
I doubt Susann realised what would lead from her phone call, but luckily for her and Max, one group who happened to be tuned in to the show, overheard and decided they wanted to help.
The group were Houston Cosplay for Charity, and one of its members – Brandi Coatsworth – who also stars as Wonder Woman, instantly decided she wanted to do something for Max and his mum.
Speaking about what had happened to her son, Susann said:
Anyone who knows Max and his story was just heartbroken for him. He’s such a great, kind kid that it’s hard to hear something like that happened.
When [the radio show] forwarded Brandi’s email, I was floored. I had no idea something like that would or could happen.
I wasn’t looking to get anything out of it, or any attention at all. The fact that Brandi and Houston Cosplay for Charity jumped in the same day my email was read on the air made my heart smile.
The superheroes jumped in our corner without a second thought and have done more than anyone could ask to make sure Max had the best birthday ever.
I will never be able to thank them enough.
Following his amazing surprise, Max spent the rest of his party with the biggest smile on his face.
After giving them all a hug each, he then got to have his photo taken with the whole gang – hopefully it helped him to forget the ordeal of his original birthday party!
Wonder Woman, I mean Brandi, said:
It only takes a moment to make a difference in someone’s life. Seeing the pure joy on his face is why we do what we do, and it really warmed our hearts to see such a sweet child so happy.
The short amount of time you take to do something special can have a huge impact on that person’s life.
It’s the stuff kids’ dreams are made of! Can’t say I wouldn’t be over the moon if a few superheroes turned up for my birthday celebrations.
Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth – if you’re reading – come to the UK and pay me a visit!
And Max – I hope you enjoyed your birthday! I’m sure your eighth will be even better!
