According to new research, the best pub conversations take place at 7.52pm on Friday nights during after work drinks.

At that exact time every Friday you should be engrossed in the most fascinating or hilarious conversation at your local boozer according to the study.

It revealed almost three quarters of British adults still enjoying gossiping with their friends over a pint with the best conversations happening before 8pm on Fridays, basically before everyone gets hammered.

But what qualifies as good conversation?

Over one fifth of those surveyed have discussed the upcoming World Cup and three in 10 debated the latest Brexit news, although two thirds admitted they dreaded political chat more than anything else which is understandable.

What people do enjoy talking about though is television shows, memories of times gone by, Donald Trump’s US presidency and general gossip.

The research also revealed that the pub is the perfect place for the strangest conversations.

Greg Tatton-Brown from online casino Casumo, who commissioned the study, said:

There’s lots of talk about Britain’s pubs being something of an endangered species but our research showed they’re as vibrant as ever.

Brits love a place where they can go and cut loose a little bit, and talk about things they may not be able to during the working week, perhaps over a friendly game of pool or Toad in the Hole.

Considering how much time Brits spend in the pub, it’s no surprise they’ve had lots of unusual experiences there.

He added:

Although our advice would be, keep your secrets to yourself – one in five Brits have revealed a secret told to them in confidence, after a night in the pub.

When you combine groups of friends, free-flowing drinks and a slightly out-of-the-ordinary environment, it all adds up to a place where memories flourish.

And our research found some people really do talk about some absolutely absurd, bizarre things once they’ve had a few with friends.

With more than half of Brits admitting they have bizarre conversations at their local, one admitted they even had a discussion with someone convinced the Earth is flat.

The study also found nearly one in five adults allege they have been approached by a stranger in the pub attempting to sell something unusual.

Participants claimed they had been offered the chance to buy 100 dead pheasants, a broken snooker cue and a time share in Morocco.

If anything, this research has certainly confirmed people are strange.
