The Queen Is Hiring And You Can Live In Her Palaces

Have you ever imagined what it would be like to have a dream job? One where money isn’t an issue and includes loads of perks?

How about one where your accommodation is included? And not just any accommodation, but one which is provided by The Queen?

Well, it looks like one person might get to experience just that, as HRH is looking for a ‘housekeeping assistant’ at Buckingham Palace.

The job is full-time and a permanent contract, and the successful candidate will be expected to work five days out of seven, Monday-Sunday.

The job description states:

Joining our professional team, you’ll upkeep, clean and care for a wide range of interiors and items, ensuring they’re presented to their very best.

Learning from your colleagues, you’ll gain the specialist professional skills needed, always aiming for the highest standards. And you’ll take care of guests and work front-of-house to support functions and events too.

Perks of the job include a 15 per cent employer contribution pension scheme plus benefits. One of which is live-in accommodation, meaning you get to live in the same building as The Queen.

Can you imagine? Wining and dining in various palaces around the country, watching Saturday night telly on a 65 inch screen and eating caviar as a midnight snack.

Alright, maybe I went too far with the caviar; I was just trying to think of posh food and it’s the first thing that came to mind. Regardless, as great as it would be to live in a palace of The Queen’s choice, I’m not sure it’d be for me?

Let’s face it, you wouldn’t be able to chill in your PJ’s and laze around on your days off; I reckon you’d be expected to wear pant suits or your Sunday best to keep up appearances.

If it does sound like the job for you though, you wouldn’t necessarily need previous housekeeping or hospitality experience. The job description describes these as an advantage, but ultimately ‘not essential’.

The Royal Household also stresses they’re looking for someone with ‘attention to detail,’ who takes pride in their work and always aims for the highest standards.

They state:

Well organised and with good time management skills, you can meet deadlines and work efficiently to get jobs done. Above all, you’ll be eager to learn new skills and develop a hospitality career.

This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and interest in hospitality to deliver the exceptional.

Sound like the job for you? If so, you’ll have to be prepared to be based within either London or Windsor Castle, as well as travelling to other Royal residences.

In return, you’ll receive 33 days holiday and have the option of living in different palaces. However, the job description does state, if you choose to do this, you’ll have a salary adjustment.

It isn’t known how much the successful candidate will earn, but The Sun report the household was offering £16,955 per annum in March for the same job.

Hmm, on second thoughts maybe it’s not such a dream job after all…
