It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, the monarchy have finally embraced 2016 and got involved in some classic Twitter beef.
This social media gold all started between just Prince Harry and the Obamas, at first.
Just in case you weren’t already in the know, Harry helps to organise the Invictus Games, a massive sports event for wounded former servicemen and women. A great cause.
It was started back in 2014, and the next Games is coming up in the next couple of weeks in Orlando from May 8th to the 12th.
So far, so good. But then the President and First Lady of the United States decided to send this mega cringe-worthy video and tweet it at Harry:
Hey, @KensingtonRoyal! Are you ready for @InvictusOrlando? Game on. pic.twitter.com/S34KrEv5Is
— First Lady- Archived (@FLOTUS44) April 29, 2016
Which sparked up some old rivalries between the U.S. and UK:
@FLOTUS @KensingtonRoyal @InvictusOrlando Tell that Paul Revere chap of yours to get his horse warmed up: The British are coming!!
— David Wiseman (@wiseshow) April 29, 2016
@wiseshow @FLOTUS @KensingtonRoyal @InvictusOrlando Yes, because that turned out so well for the British last time!
— Donna Leinwand Leger (@DonnaLeinwand) April 29, 2016
But Harry didn’t take this lying down, oh no, he grabbed hold of the royal Twitter account and tweeted the following:
Wow @FLOTUS and @POTUS, some @weareinvictus fighting talk there! You can dish it out, but can you take it? – H.
— Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) April 29, 2016
.@FLOTUS @POTUS How on Earth am I going to top that? ? – H
— Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) April 29, 2016
And because the royals tweet so rarely, people were pretty damn excited about this:
@KensingtonRoyal @FLOTUS @POTUS @WeAreInvictus ARE YOU THE REAL HARRY ?
— célia (@Prismatikaty) April 29, 2016
@KensingtonRoyal We’ve got your back, Harry. ??
— Charlotte Woodward (@csbw_) April 29, 2016
@KensingtonRoyal Holy crap Harry tweeted
— Kya Hill (@KyaMHill) April 29, 2016
He even somehow got Her Majesty involved too:
Unfortunately for you @FLOTUS and @POTUS I wasn't alone when you sent me that video ? – H.https://t.co/sjfSQvkzb6
— Kensington Palace (@KensingtonRoyal) April 29, 2016
*Drops mic*.
Harry and Queen Liz definitely won this round, but we are looking forward to America’s response. Bring it on!
