I remember the good old days of travelling.
You know the ones – where you’d take a couple of disposable cameras, point, shoot, hope for the best and then not have a clue until what you were getting until you’d waited three days for the film to be developed.
Well hello 21st century, and the arrivals of social media, smart phones and Instagram.
For travellers from the 1st and 2nd century BC, the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was considered their guidebook, but unfortunately for us, the only one remaining is the Pyramids at Giza.
Well because of that, Instagram and ‘On The Go Tours’ have created a whole new ‘guidebook’ for those of you who love to get out there and see what the world has to offer, according to the Indy 100.
Thanks to the magic of photosharing, (and hashtags), they’ve revealed the NEW wonders of the world, according to ‘instgrammers’.
Unsurprisingly, the most ‘grammed’ site in the world is the Eiffel Tower – and yes I mean the one in France, not Vegas or anywhere else for that matter!
The hashtag ‘#EiffelTower’ has been used across Instagram 3, 411, 588 times – that’s a lot of tagging and snapping!
Second on the list was a little closer to home – Big Ben – a hashtag that’s amounted 2, 436, 319 uses.
In fact, London was pretty dominant in the Top 10 – the London Eye was in 4th spot, with Tower Bridge coming in at seven.
New York was the only other city on the list with more than one landmark, unsurprisingly, the Empire State Building at five, and the Statue of Liberty at eight.
The top ten list also included; The Grand Canyon (3rd), The Golden Gate Bridge (6th), Sagrada Famillia (9th) and The Colesseum (10th).
