To mark World Autism Day, the National Autistic Society (NAS) has released a powerful video, allowing viewers to get a sense of what it is like to be autistic.
The video, titled Can you make it to the end? takes us through the experience of a young boy with autism, as his mother takes him through a busy shopping centre, reports The Inquisitr.
On the NAS website, they’ve used the caption:
I’m not naughty – I’m autistic. Sometimes I get too much information. And if you only see a naughty kid, you haven’t got enough.
The video gives us an insight into the sensory overload experienced by the boy as he experiences the overwhelming sights, smells, and sounds of the busy shopping mall.
To him, the experience becomes more and more intense until he can’t take it any more.

The aim of the clip is to give the public more information to help understand what life is like for people living with autism.
Autism is a spectrum disorder which affects the way sufferers communicate with other people surrounding them and how they make sense of the world.
People with the spectrum are literally bombarded with sensory information and have trouble working their way through it, with children often appearing to be misbehaving.
I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t cope with that on a daily basis.
