Lamposts, walls, cars – you name it. If a dog sees pretty much anything stationary on its walk, it’s likely to wee on it.
Which is exactly what someone in Brooklyn is hoping will happen to some newly erected statues of Donald Trump.
A range of statues depicting the American president have appeared in a park in Brooklyn, each of them emblazoned with the words ‘pee on me’.
The man who placed the statues all over Park Slope, advertising professional Phil Gable, did so to express his dislike for Trump.
He told Gothamist:
It was largely just a personal expression of my own disdain for Donald Trump, both as a President and a human being. I find it cathartic anytime I can express disdain through comedy, especially if it’s related to politics.
He went on to say that dogs need a ‘positive place to pee’ and he hopes that placing these statues will encourage dogs to avoid flower beds.
In fact, to further encourage dogs to urinate all over Trump’s face, Gable says he sprayed the statues with ‘dog potty-training aids’ so they can’t resist.
PAThe perfect scenario, I’d say. I wish I lived in Brooklyn just so I could take my dog there to be honest. In fact, maybe I’ll buy a plane ticket tonight.
And the neighbourhood appears to think it’s a positive thing too. Gable described how he’s already received praise from people.
He said:
While I was setting it up, one woman came by with her two daughters. They really liked it—they took pictures with it, and she thanked me and said ‘This is the kind of thing that makes me love Brooklyn.’
So the neighbours and the dogs are happy – it’s a win-win situation!
However, not everyone was. The first statue was placed on Friday October 5 and disappeared within a few hours, since it was not secured to the pavement.
Gable realised they were easy targets and so has since made several more which he has placed throughout the park. These new statues have been secured in place and are anchored to the ground with cables.
So hopefully they won’t be going anywhere soon!
