A maths professor in the U.S has been mixing things up by adding some extra questions at the end of his students’ exam papers.
The unknown teacher has added pop culture questions referencing everything from Oscar nominations to hip hop lyrics to give his pupils the chance to earn extra marks.
Photos of the questions were uploaded to Imgur by user SharkyTheSharkDog who captioned it: “Awesome professor asks the best extra credit questions.”
One said: “Including The Revenant, how many times has Leonardo DiCaprio been nominated for an Academy award?” – Five.
For another question, the professor asked students to ‘describe the dumbest conversation you overheard recently.’
The student responded saying he heard a man ask a woman if she liked the band Bon Jovi and she had replied “no thanks, I don’t eat Italian food.”
Another question he posed was to finish the lyrics to American rapper Tupac’s song California Love.
He wrote: “I been in the game for 10 years making rap tunes.”
And the pupil finished: “Ever since honeys was wearing Sassoons.” The student was given three marks.
In an inspired comic twist the professor also included one extra-credit assignment:
The first person to read this, stand up proudly on your chair and yell at the top of your lungs ‘Oh captain, my captain’ will receive 95 per cent on this exam.
Just kidding. Name the drummer for The Beatles’ for two points.
The post has now been viewed over 240,000 times, however not everyone is seeing the funny side.
Some people (who presumably can’t afford the operation to have a sense of humour medically inserted) complained that students shouldn’t be getting extra credit if they haven’t got their statistics questions right.
