Shane, who usually uses the surname Evans, had been travelling around New Zealand since October but after splitting up with his girlfriend apparently headed for Thailand without telling anyone, Gloucestershire Live reports.

His mum Wendy was completely unaware of this until police managed to trace his phone.

She said:

In the early hours of Tuesday I got a message from him saying he was sorry. I didn’t even know he was in Thailand. He had been travelling in New Zealand with his girlfriend but they broke up out there. She is devastated, no one knows what to do.

Wendy launched an emotional appeal to find her son on Facebook:

Police in Gloucestershire have issued an urgent missing persons appeal and are now working with Interpol to try and find him.
