SWNSA special village for homeless people is being built in the UK, which will provide ten beautiful mini houses for those who are currently living in temporary accommodation, shelters and B&Bs.
The homes – which look absolutely lovely – are expected to be ready just in time for Christmas, with each one containing two loft bedrooms, a shared bathroom,a lounge warmed with a wood burner, mini mini kitchen and dining area.
Organised by social business Social Bite, this pioneering village allows up to 20 homeless people the chance to live in a safe ‘community’ based environment for a temporary period of around 12-18 months, in Edinburgh.
SWNSDuring this period, residents will be supported to develop skills and get their life on the right path, while also benefiting from work placement opportunities and practical employ-ability support.
Architect Jonathon Avery, from Tiny House Scotland, designed the light, airy houses, which are based on his insulated ‘NestHouse’ model.
A prototype house is currently being displayed at the Edinburgh Festival,where members of the public can see what will be built.
SWNSWith materials supplied and put together by sustainable-minded timber manufacturer Carbon Dynamic, these houses are cost effective, low energy and fully transportable.
