Unfortunately, for those who suffer with Arachnophobia, it can strike at the worst possible time, as one woman discovered, crashing her car after spotting a spider.
The unidentified female was driving when she noticed the arachnid in the front seat. It caused her to panic and consequently crash her car.
In the accident, which happened yesterday (April 10), in Cairo, New York, the car was totaled, while the woman suffered a leg injury.
The Town of Cairo New York Police Department shared details of the incident on their Facebook page in the hope it’ll act as a warning to other drivers who have a fear of spiders.
Posting an image of the crashed vehicle, they wrote:
After investigating today’s crash on Silver Spur Road we feel it necessary to bring up a contributing factor that is not covered too often. It is believed that the operator of the vehicle noticed a SPIDER in the drivers area with her as she was driving.
The operator panicked and crashed suffering a leg injury from the crash. We know that it is easier for some drivers than others but PLEASE, try to teach new drivers and yourselves to overcome the fear and pull over to a safe place. Lives depend on it.
The police also thanked the Cairo Fire Service, Cairo Ambulance Service, Greene County Medics and Greene County Sheriffs, all of whom attended the crash.
Hopefully the woman will make a speedy and full recovery!
